Die Munchkins sind zurück und diesmal stürzen sie sich kopfüber in die unendlichen Weiten des Alls. In Star Munchkin verwandelt ihr euch in Mutanten, Androiden oder geheimnisvolle Katzenwesen und zieht mit Lasern, Vibroschwertern und Nova Granaten in intergalaktische Gefechte. Eure Gegner sind nicht minder verrückt: Fanged Fuzzballs, Bionic Bimbos und das gefürchtete Gehirn im Glas warten nur darauf, euch das Leben schwer zu machen. Dieses eigenständige Spiel basiert auf den beliebten Munchkin Regeln, bringt jedoch frische Wendungen wie die Sidekicks mit und lässt sich vollständig mit allen anderen Munchkin Spielen kombinieren.
Als Teil der Munchkin Reihe nimmt das Spiel die Klischees klassischer Rollenspiele genüsslich aufs Korn. Jeder startet auf Stufe eins und der Sieg gehört demjenigen, der zuerst Stufe zehn erreicht. Während der Partie sammelt ihr Klassen und Ausrüstung im bekannten Dungeons and Dragons Stil, die bestimmen, welche Karten ihr spielen könnt und wie ihr euch durch die Gefahren des Alls kämpft.
Die Karten teilen sich in Begegnungen und Schätze. Zu Beginn jedes Zuges tretet ihr symbolisch die Tür ein und deckt eine Begegnung auf. Oft erwartet euch ein Monster, dessen Stufe ihr mithilfe eurer Kräfte, Waffen und Boni übertreffen müsst. Gelingt euch dies, erhaltet ihr Schätze und steigt im Level. Scheitert ihr, trifft euch das gefürchtete schlechte Zeug, das euch Ausrüstung oder Stufen kosten kann. Eure Mitspieler können euch unterstützen oder schaden, indem sie weitere Monster ins Spiel bringen und das Chaos verstärken.
Besonderer Hinweis: Die Ausgabe von 2012 aus dem Hause Pegasus Spiele enthält bereits die erste Erweiterung Star Munchkin 2 The Clown Wars. Dasselbe gilt für die italienische Ausgabe von Raven Distribution.
